Jamar Mozee is in his third season on the Nebraska staff in 2026. Mozee is in his first season as the Huskers’ assistant head coach, earning a promotion after spending his first two seasons on staff as a senior football assistant.
Mozee has helped Nebraska to a winning record in each of his first two seasons, the first back-to-back winning seasons for the Huskers in a decade. NU has been ranked in at least one weekly poll in each of his two seasons.
Prior to Nebraska, Mozee was a successful high school coach in Missouri. As the head coach at Lee’s Summit North High School for nine seasons from 2015 to 2023, Mozee won 64 games and was a three-time conference coach of the year. He led the Broncos to four conference championships and a pair of state semifinal appearances.
NEBRASKA (2024-25)
Mozee was a senior football assistant in his first two seasons on staff. He helped Nebraska to a 7-6 record in his first season in 2024. The Huskers posted their first winning season since 2016 and won a bowl game for the first time since 2015. Despite losing its starting quarterback in the ninth game of the season, Nebraska finished 7-6 again in 2025, marking the Huskers’ first back-to-back winning seasons in a decade.
BEFORE NEBRASKA
UCF: Mozee had a brief stint as an analyst at UCF in 2024 before joining Nebraska.
LEE’S SUMMIT (MO.) NORTH HS: Mozee was the head coach at Lee’s Summit North High School in Missouri from 2015 to 2023. He led the Broncos to four conference championships in the Suburban Gold and Suburban Silver conferences. Lee’s Summit North reached the Missouri Class 6 semifinals in 2021 and 2022 and advanced to the quarterfinals in 2023.
Overall, Mozee guided Lee’s Summit North to a 64-35 overall record and is the winningest coach in school history. The school had won only four games from 2012 to 2014 before his arrival. A three-time conference coach of the year, Mozee saw more than 140 of his players earn college scholarships following their prep careers. He coached five players who earned conference player-of-the-year honors including Keyon Mozee, Trey Baker, Cayden Green, Williams Nwaneri and Isaiah Mozee.
Before serving as the Lee’s Summit North head coach, Mozee had experience as the school’s offensive coordinator and quarterback coach in 2014.
ADDITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL COACHING: Mozee was an assistant coach at Park Hill South High School (2010-13) and William Chrisman High School (2007-10). He also served as the athletic director and head football coach at Faith Academy Christian Schools from 2005 to 2007.
PLAYING CAREER
A standout running back at Blue Springs High School, Mozee was the two-time Missouri Player of the Year by USA Today and Gatorade. He began his collegiate career at Oklahoma and was part of the Sooners’ 2000 national championship team. He then earned two letters at Nicholls State in 2002 and 2003.
PERSONAL
Mozee earned his degree in communication from Nicholls State University. He is married to Kaisha Mozee, and his son, Isaiah, is a sophomore running back for the Huskers.
