Outlook (2025-26)
The 2023 Missouri Class 5 boys state champion at Liberty North High School in the Kansas City area, Caden Mickelson added runner-up finishes as a junior and a season to complete an outstanding prep career that included four top-five individual finishes at the state championships. Mickelson also teamed with new Nebraska teammate Bryson Oots to win the Kansas City Four-Ball Championship in June of 2024. Mickelson continued a strong summer by advancing to the quarterfinals of the Missouri Amateur Championship at the Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia in late June. He entered the match play portion of the event after tying for fifth in two rounds of stroke play at 140 (-2), including an opening-round 68 (-3).
Before Nebraska
Mickelson was the Missouri Class 5 state champion with a two-round total of 142 (-2) as a sophomore at Liberty North High School in the spring of 2023. He added a runner-up finish at the Missouri state championship as a junior in 2024 when he carded back-to-back rounds of 69. He was even better with his runner-up finish as a senior in 2025, when he closed at nine-under par after rounds of 66 and 69. He led Liberty North to a seventh-place team finish.
Mickelson went on to finish sixth in a field of 304 golfers at the 2024 National High School Championships in Frisco, Texas. He fired rounds of 67, 72 and 69 at PGA Frisco.
Mickelson, who was the top-ranked junior in Missouri in the class of 2025 according to Junior Golf Scoreboard, also qualified for the 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur at Oakland Hills Country Club in Michigan.
