Junior (2024-25)
Davis Johnson plans to compete for lineup time in his third season at Nebraska. The junior from Chaska, Minn., was a member of the Husker lineup at both the 2023 and 2024 Big Ten Championships.

He earned his first lineup spot of 2024-25 at Nebraska's Git-R-Done Invitational (Sept. 23-24), but settled for a tie for 60th with a three-round total of 231 (+18), including rounds of 74, 76 and 81 on a par-71, 7,003-yard layout at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln.

Johnson owns a 77.00 stroke average over three rounds in 2024-25.

As a sophomore in 2024, he also claimed Academic All-Big Ten honors and a spot on the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. He is serving on the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2024-25.

Sophomore (2023-24)
Johnson produced the best tournament of his collegiate career by claiming medalist honors at the Stampede at the Creek in Omaha (April 8-9). Playing as an individual, Johnson fired a one-under-par 215 over three rounds on a par-72, 7,627-yard layout at Indian Creek Golf Course to edge teammate Quinn Yost by one stroke. Johnson’s performance included a career-best 69 (-3) in the opening round, before adding rounds of 72 and 74 to hold off Yost for the title.

Johnson’s performance in Omaha followed his first lineup appearance of the season for the Huskers at The Johnnie-O at Sea Island (March 11-12). He was Nebraska’s No. 4 finisher on the 7,060-yard, par-72 layout of the Plantation Course at the Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga., tying for 58th with a 222 (+6) that included rounds of 75, 72 and 75.

He earned his second lineup spot of the season at the Hawkeye Invitational (April 13-14), where he tied for 69th with a three-round total of 221 (+8) on a par-71, 7,197-yard layout at the Finkbine Golf Course. Johnson opened the tournament with a 73, before managing a second-round 77 ahead of a strong final-round 71 to help the Huskers to a seventh-place finish in a 16-team field.

Johnson capped the season with a tie for 57th at the Big Ten Championship in Columbus, Ohio (April 26-28). He produced rounds of 75, 78 and 81 to finish at 234 (+24) on the par-70, 7,240-yard layout of the Scioto Country Club to help Nebraska tie for seventh in a 14-team field at the conference tournament.

Davis competed outside the Husker lineup at the TPC Badger Individual at TPC Wisconsin (Oct. 1-2). He carded rounds of 80, 77 and 82 to finish in a tie for 20th at 229 (+13).

Johnson closed the year with a 74.73 stroke average over 15 rounds.

Freshman (2022-23)
Johnson made his debut as a true freshman at the Purdue Fall Invitational (West Lafayette, Ind.) Oct. 10-11. He tied for 36th with a three-round tally of 231 (+15).

At the Tiger Collegiate in Columbia, Mo., Johnson turned in his best performance of the season, tying for 47th with a three-round score of 218 (+2). His effort included a two-under 71 in the second round to help Nebraska to its best round in school history (274, -14).

Johnson then appeared in the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate, where he finished tied for 40th. He accumulated a three-round score of 230 (78-75-77) on the par-71, 7,538-yard layout at the Atkins Golf Club.

He concluded his true freshman season at the Big Ten Championships in Galloway, N.J. He finished with a 157 (+15) over two rounds before the third round was canceled by rain. Johnson finished with a 76.00 stroke average in 11 rounds.

Before Nebraska
As one of the top golfers in Minnesota, Johnson took second as a senior at the 2021 Metro West Conference Championships, which included a four-under-par 68 in the opening round to help Chaska capture the team title with a nine-stroke victory over Minnetonka.

Johnson was also named the 2021 Metro West Conference Player of the Year before helping Chaska to its seventh consecutive conference championship.

Johnson, who graduated from Chaska High School in 2021, chose to delay his enrollment after high school and spent the 2021-22 season in Arizona.

Personal
The son of Jeff and Lori Johnson, Davis was born Jan. 30, 2003. A finance major, he earned Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2024. He is also a four-time Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll selection. Johnson was named to the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. He is serving on the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2024-25.
