Craig Sager enters his first season as the director of men’s and women’s golf operations at Nebraska after spending the past four seasons as the head coach of the men’s and women’s programs at William Jewell in Liberty, Mo.
In 2024, he led the William Jewell men to their best finish in history at the GLVC Tournament. He also guided Bryson Oots to the first individual NCAA Division II national tournament appearance in program history.
In 2022, Sager helped Frida Hammarlund to an individual NCAA Tournament berth as well.
Sager took over the top job at William Jewell in January of 2020, and was selected to the NCAA Division II Men’s Golf Midwest Regional Advisory Committee in July of 2021, serving on the committee from 2022 through 2024.
Prior to his time at William Jewell, Sager spent three seasons leading the North Central Missouri College men’s golf program. He led the Pirates to back-to-back NJCAA Region XVI Championships. Nine of his golfers earned trips to the national tournament, while also claiming six all-region and three all-district awards. His 2018 squad was the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year after producing the best GPA in the country. Ten of his golfers earned NJCAA All-Academic honors.
Sager was the course superintendent at the Riverside Country Club from 2010 to 2013, before serving as the general manager at the Green Hills Golf Course in Chillicothe, Mo., from 2013 to 2023. He was also the head professional at the Cameron Golf Club from 2010 to 2024.
A TPI Certified instructor, Sager is a native of Trenton, Mo. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Central Missouri in 2004.
