2026 (Senior)
Cohen started his historic senior season off at the Rocky Mountain Open, where he hit a 14.00 on rings and a 13.70 on parallel bars. During the meet at Oklahoma, he hit his career-high of 13.90 on parallel bars. At the competition against Michigan, he notched a career-high of 14.70 on rings. He competed at Big Ten Qualifiers and Finals for the Huskers. At the Big Ten Finals, he won rings with a 14.125. He competed at the NCAA Qualifiers and Finals for Nebraska. At the NCAA Finals, he won rings with a 14.50, and he got a 12.90 on parallel bars. He is a 2026 NCAA rings gold medalist, 2026 Big Ten rings gold medalist, 3x All-American on rings, 2026 First Team All-Big Ten, 2026 Nissen-Emery Finalist, 2026 CGA Specialist of the Year, he won 8 Individual Titles this year (seven on rings and one on parallel bars), 2x Team Captain, 3x CGA Specialist of the Week, Big Ten Specialist of the Week during Week 11, 2026 CGA Regular Season All-American on rings and 2026 Nebraska Male Athlete of the Year Nominee. In the classroom, he is a 3x Academic All-Big Ten Member, 7x Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll Member, 4x Tom Osborne Citizenship Team Member and a 2026 NCAA winter postgrad scholarship recipient.
2025 (Junior)
Cohen opened his junior season in a dual meet with Cal and Oklahoma. He competed in the still rings, where he logged a 12.85. He later improved his scores to what became his personal best in the event at the Michigan meet. He earned a 14.45 for his first individual title of the season.
Cohen pulled out notable performances in the conference and NCAA Championships. On the still rings, he earned a silver medal in the individual finals at the 2025 Big Ten Championships. Cohen displayed exemplary skills on the rings for the team finals through a 14.00-point performance. He grabbed the first qualifying spot for the 2025 NCAA Championships, where he later went on to nab the first-place spot in the qualifiers with a 14.20.
The team captain from Lakewood, Colo., received his second All-American award on rings by posting 13.933 for seventh place at the NCAA Championships. In his third year as a Husker, Cohen received second-team All-Big Ten honors.
In the classroom, Cohen was named to the Academic All-Big Ten list and the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. He was also a member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2024 (Sophomore)
Cohen competed in every meet for the Huskers en route to his first All-American honor as he placed sixth on rings at the NCAA Championships. His best score on the season came against Army and Greenville where he had a 14.10 on the parallel bars, and he also set a career-best on the rings with a score of 14.05 in the Huskers’ win against Illinois. Additionally, Cohen scored a 13.966 in the NCAA Qualifiers to put together a strong fourth-place finish.
Cohen was also a member of the Academic All-Big Ten Team and was named to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
2023 (Freshman)
Cohen competed regularly for the Huskers on the rings and parallel bars. His season high and personal best on the parallel bars came at the NCAA Qualifiers, with a score of 14.166. Cohen also logged a high score of 13.85 on the rings in a meet against Michigan (Feb. 4).
Cohen excelled outside the gym, earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, as well as the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for his dedication to service in the Lincoln community.
Before Nebraska
Cohen competed for 5280 Gymnastics under Head Coach Vladimir and Sasha Artemev, and Irina Bendassova. The Lakewood, Colo. native competed at the 2021 USA Championships where he placed fourth on floor and pommel horse and 10th in the all-around competition. At the 2021 Junior Olympic National Championships, Cohen finished first on rings and eighth in the all-around competition.
Personal
Asher is the son of Matt and Terri Cohen. He has two older brothers, Jacob and Duncan, and one younger sister, Chloe. Asher earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska as a biological sciences major in May of 2026.
