2024 (Sophomore)
Toby Liang competed in every event this season, putting together a handful of personal bests in the process. Liang took home an individual title for the floor exercise NU’s defeat against Penn State. He also set career bests in the floor exercise (14.25), still rings (12.85), vault (13.70), parallel bars (14.00), high bar (13.90) and all-around (81.450).
This season, Liang was also a member of the Academic All-Big Ten and the Tom Osborne Citizenship teams.
2023 (Freshman)
Toby Liang competed regularly on the high bar for the the Huskers, with several appearances on the floor and pommel horse as well. He notched a career best of 13.70 on the high bar at the Rocky Mountain Open on January 21, 2023. Liang went on to compete in the NCAA Qualifiers and the NCAA Championships later in the season.
He earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for his dedication in the classroom over both the fall and spring semesters.
Before Nebraska
Liang competed for Roswell Gymnastics under Head Coach Felippe Mendonça. The Roswell, Georgia native was the runner-up in the all-around competition at the 2021 USA Championships and the 2021 National Championships. Liang also helped his team to a top-10 national finish in 2021.Liang was a member of the junior national team, competing at the 2021 and 2022 Junior Pan American Games, earning gold in the team competition both years.
Personal
Toby was born on March 25, 2004 and is the son of Joseph and Katherine Liang. He has one younger sister, Winnie, and one younger brother, Finn. Liang is majoring in sports media and communication.
