2023-24: Sophomore
In his first season with the Huskers, Nikolay Sysoev competed in singles and doubles in both the fall and spring seasons. The New Mexico transfer had his most successful season, tallying 12 of his 18 career singles wins, and all 10 of his career doubles wins. The business administration major most frequently paired with senior Shunya Maruyama on the doubles court, and the duo went 7-3 on the season.
Off the court, Sysoev was named to the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
Nikolay Sysoev was born in Moscow, Russia but calls Sarasota, Fla., home. Sysoev completed his rookie season with the New Mexico Lobos, tallying seven singles wins and claiming a team conference championship.
Personal
Sysoev is the son of Andrey Cherkasov and Ekaterina Cherkasova, and was born on July 28, 2004. Sysoev’s parents both played tennis with his dad reaching a top 15 ATP singles ranking, and his mom reaching top 170 in WTA singles rankings. Sysoev has two siblings, Anastasia and Igor.
Sysoev plans to major in Business.
