Junior (2024-25)
Giulia Marchi was a key contributor in the Husker freestyle and relay events in 2024-25. The junior from Italy produced 17 top-five finishes with three career bests and a school record. At the Hawkeye Invitational, Marchi collected a pair of season bests in the 100 (50.86) and 200 freestyles (1:48.41) along with a career best in the 500 free (4:53.43). She also contributed to Nebraska's winning 800 free relay (7:14.79), and NU's second-place finish in the 400 free relay (3:18.25). 

In the dual with Illinois, Marchi racked up three top-five finishes to give the Huskers a win on senior day. In the 200 free, Marchi clocked a second-place finish with a time of 1:49.77, while taking third in the 500 free (4:58.88) and fourth in the 100 free (51.48). Marchi also assisted in the first-place 400 free relay alongside Beatrix Tanko, JoJo Randby and Maisie Gilford (3:21.15). 

Marchi finished out her third season with the Huskers at the Big Ten Championships. She notched a season best in the 100 free prelims (50.72) and a career best in the 200 free time trials (1:47.69). Marchi also contributed to the second-fastest 400 free relay time (3:18.25) in school history, while teaming with Tanko, Gena Jorgenson and Gilford for a school-record 7:07.35 in the 800 free relay, placing eighth.

Sophomore (2023-24)
Marchi was a key contributor for the Huskers both individually and in relay events. She highlighted her sophomore season with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle final at the Hawkeye Invitational, swimming a career-best time of 1:49.06. Marchi earned her second career-best time of the meet with her 17th-place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:58.77) and added a sixth-place finish in the 100 freestyle (50.99).

Early in the season, at a dual with South Dakota State, Marchi picked up a pair of top-two finishes. She set a career best in the 1,000 freestyle and placed second (10:28.19), while picking up a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle (52.84). Against Kansas, Marchi logged a runner-up finish in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.21. She placed first in the 200 freestyle after finishing in 1:51.52.

In a dual with Rutgers (Feb. 2-3), Marchi took first in the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 50.67. She followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 200 freestyle (1:50.98). Marchi helped the 800 freestyle relay team to an eighth-place finish at conference. Their time of 7:11.31 was good for third all-time at NU.

Freshman (2022-23)
Marchi had a strong start to her first season as a Husker, bringing in a victory and a pair of runner-up finishes in her first two meets. At South Dakota State, Marchi clocked a 25.49 to take second in the 50 freestyle. Marchi swam to a 200 freestyle victory with a 1:52.21 and a second-place finish in the 100 freestyle with a 52.14 when NU hosted Iowa State. The next day, Marchi brought in a pair of top-five finishes in the 100 and 200 freestyle events during the double-dual against Minnesota and South Dakota. She added a pair of third-place efforts against the Hawkeyes, with a 52.57 in the 100 freestyle and a 1:52.93 in the 200 freestyle.

Against the Jayhawks, Marchi swam a 1:53.74 in the 200 freestyle to place third, while taking fourth in the 100 freestyle in 53.36. She continued to rack up top finishes at the Omaha dual, where Marchi won the 100 freestyle (52.49) and finished as runner-up in the 50 freestyle (24.47). At the Hawkeye Invite, Marchi continued to cut time off her previous bests and put up a pair of A-final appearances, finishing fourth in the 100 freestyle (50.67) and sixth in the 200 freestyle (1:49.63). In the final duals of the season, Marchi put up four top-five placements in the 100 and 200 freestyle events against Illinois and Rutgers.

At the Big Ten Championships, Marchi was a member of the 800 freestyle relay and the 400 freestyle relay. She capped off her freshman campaign at the CSCAA National Invitational Championships, contributing to four top-25 relays.

Before Nebraska
Marchi proved to be a top freestyler for Asola Nuoto, clocking times in the 100 and 200 freestyle events that ranked within the top 10 in the country. She was also named a regional champion. 

Personal
The daughter of Simona Marinoni and Antonio Marchi, Giulia was born in Asola, Italy on Feb. 20, 2004. She has one older sister, Maria, and two older brothers, Giacomo and Paolo. Giulia also has two younger sisters, Marta and Clelia. A biological sciences major, Giulia was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2024. She is also a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection (2024, 2025). She has earned five spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. Marchi is also a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team for her service in the Lincoln community. Giulia chose Nebraska because it has one of the best research programs in the country.
