Sophomore (2025-26)
Hailing from Sparks, Nevada, Katy Zboinski added notable performances in the breaststroke events in her second year at Nebraska. 

In the short course pool, Zboinski achieved a personal best in the 100 breast at the 2026 Big Ten Championships. The sophomore swam a 1:02.88 in the time trials after a 1:03.68 showing in the prelims. During the season, Zboinski powered a fourth-place finish against Kansas with a time of 1:04.43. 

Excelling in the 200 breaststroke, Zboinski added a trio of second-place finishes throughout the season. In the first double dual of the season against South Dakota State and Omaha, she swam a 2:23.44. She notched a time of 2:16.51 against Kansas and a 2:14.92 to close the season against Rutgers.

Freshman (2024-25)
Katy Zboinski swam exhibition swims most of her 2024-25 season, allowing her to grow and cut times. She grabbed six top-five finishes in four different events. The freshman debuted her first season with the Huskers against the No. 24 Minnesota and South Dakota with competition in the 100 (1:07.12) and 200 (2:25.99) breaststrokes. Additionally, she swam in the 200 IM (2:15.93) and a leg of the 200 medley relay. 

Zboinski recorded a personal best in the 100 fly (1:00.99) to place sixth in Nebraska's dual win over Omaha. She also posted a fifth-place finish in the 200 IM (2:12.14) as well as a fourth-place finish in the 100 breast (1:07.18) against the Mavericks.  

The Nevada native finished out her first season as a Husker at the Big Ten Championships by producing two personal bests in the 100 breast (1:02.99) and the 200 IM (2:03.67). She also competed in the 200 breast prelims (2:14.54).

Before Nebraska
The 2023 NIAA Nevada 5A State Champion in the 100 breaststroke, Zboinski joined the Huskers from Sparks, Nev. She was the school record holder in the 100 breaststroke. With her club team, Lakeridge Swim Team, Zboinski was named to the 2022-23 USA Swimming Scholastic All-American team and achieved the junior national cut in the 200 breaststroke. At the 2024 NIAA Northern Region Championship, she placed first in the 100 breaststroke and third in the 200 IM. 

Personal
The daughter of Curt and Krystal Zboinski, Katy was born on March 21, 2006. She has one brother, Jerod. Zboinski is majoring in criminology and criminal justice at Nebraska with the goal of working in the FBI. She earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2024. She was also a member of the 2025 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.

“I chose Nebraska because they truly care about their athletes and I will get an excellent education and join an amazing swim program,” Zboinski said.
