Before Nebraska
Meredith Peyton stays home to help the Huskers after setting the state record in the 100 butterfly (54.27). A high school senior from Valley, Neb., Peyton is a four-time Nebraska state champion who fueled Omaha Marian to state team titles in 2023 and 2025, along with a runner-up finish in 2024.
Recently, Peyton produced three lifetime-best times in the 100 back (56.34), 200 back (2:02.27) and the 200 IM (2:04.13) at the IA IFLY A3 Midwest Challenge meet. The USA Swimming Futures Championships in Madison, Wis., allowed Peyton to notch a lifetime long-course best in the 100 fly (1:03.11) and a season best in the 200 backstroke with a 2:25.13.
Personal
Meredith was born in Omaha, Neb., on July 31, 2007, to Kurt and Amy Payton. She has one sister, Lauren, and two brothers, Noah and Kinnick. She intends to study business law at Nebraska.
