Riley Miklos capped her first season for the Huskers by scoring in the 1,650 freestyle at the Big Ten Championships. Miklos shattered her career best with a time of 16:32.23 to finish 24th in the event. It was the seventh-fastest swim in the event in school history. Miklos also posted the eighth-fastest time in school history with her 1,000 free time (10:00.39) at the Big Ten meet. She also recorded career bests of 4:48.47 on her way to a 29th-place finish in the 500 free and 1:48.47 in the 200 free to take 32nd at the conference meet.
Miklos capped the regular season with a fifth-place finish in the 1,650 free in a win over Rutgers and Iowa in New Jersey, while adding a seventh-place showing in the 200 free. She also helped Husker 200 and 400 relay teams to fifth-place finishes against the Hawkeyes and Scarlet Knights.
In a dual win over Illinois, Miklos took third in the 1,000 free with a then-career-best 10:08.64 and sixth in the 500 free (5:03.71), while also swimming a leg of a fourth-place 400 free relay team.
In a win over Omaha, Miklos helped the Huskers in the 500 free (5:10.50), while notching a pair of third-place finishes in the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay.
Miklos posted a pair of then-personal bests at the Hawkeye Invitational in November. She finished seventh in the 500 free (4:50.78), before taking eighth in 1,650 free (16:49.52). She also placed 16th in the 100 free with a season-best time of 51.84.
She took second in the 500 free in a dual victory over South Dakota State (Nov. 8), while the Huskers to a second-place finish in the 400 medley relay and a third-place showing in the 200 free relay against the Jackrabbits.
Miklos won the 1,000 free in a dual win over Kansas (10:10.01), while contributing a fourth-place finish in the 500 free (4:59.82). She was also a member of a third-place 400 freestyle relay team against the Jayhawks.
In a dual win over Iowa State at the Devaney Natatorium (Oct. 25), Miklos took second in the 1,650 free, trailing only All-America teammate Gena Jorgenson. She also took fourth in the 100 freestyle.
Miklos set steady performances in a dual against Iowa in Iowa City (Oct. 18). She recorded two fifth-place finishes in the 100 and 500 freestyles. She added a sixth-place performance in the 200 free. She also helped her 400 free relay team to fourth place.
Miklos showed strong potential in the distance freestyle events in Nebraska's season-opening double-dual with No. 24 Minnesota and South Dakota. She finished fourth in the 1,000 free (10:25.65) while adding a sixth-place performance in the 500 freestyle (5:10.91).
Before Nebraska
Miklos joined the Huskers from Richmond, Va. She was a state finalist for Deep Run High School in the 200 and 500 freestyle in 2023. With her club team, Nova of Virginia Aquatics, Miklos was the 2023 Virginia short-course state finalist in the 200, 500 and 1000 freestyle as well as the 200 butterfly. At the 2024 NCSA Spring Championships, she finished 12th in the long-course 800 freestyle (9:08.66) and 13th in the long-course 100 freestyle (58.03).
Personal
The daughter of Chris Miklos and Dr. Megan Cassidy, Riley Miklos was born on Dec. 7, 2005. She has one sister, Cassidy and one brother, Owen. A computer science major, Miklos earned a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. She was also a member of the 2025 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
“I chose Nebraska because I felt the environment, coaches, and teammates would enable me to be the best swimmer and student I could be,” Miklos said.
