Sophomore (2025-26)
Backstroke specialist Virginia Consiglio posted consistent times in her second year at Nebraska. The sophomore from Genova, Italy amassed 11 top-five finishes, with notable performances at the 2026 Big Ten Championships.

With three event-winning times in the 100 back, Consiglio improved her time throughout the season and reached a career-best in a dual against Rutgers. Her swim of 53.54 is now the fourth-fastest time in NU history. She swam a season-best time of 1:57.22 in the 200 back for second at the same meet.

During the midseason meet in Iowa City, Iowa, Consiglio grabbed two second-place swims in the 200 backstroke, trimming nearly two seconds from the prelims (1:58.21) to finals (1:56.65).  Her final swim moved her to the second-fastest Husker behind Erin Oeltjen from her 2017 swim of 1:55.17.

At the conference championships in Minneapolis, Minn., the Italian swimmer swam in the C finals in the 100 back where she hit a 19th-place finish of 53.58.

As a relay lead-off, Consiglio has helped her team of Amelia Riggott, Beatrix Tanko and Giulia Marchi to the fourth-fastest school time in the 400 medley relay. The 3:37.27 at the conference championships gave Consiglio her second spot on the school record book for the event.

Freshman (2024-25)
The last competitor to join the 2024-25 Husker swimming and diving team, Virginia Consiglio, played a significant role in the Husker relay efforts late in the season. At the 2025 Big Ten Championships, the freshman from Genova, Italy, raced with JoJo Randby, Anna Vlachou and Maisie Gilford to post a school-record time of 1:38.50 in the 200 medley relay. She was also part of Nebraska's school-record setting 400 medley relay (3:36.12) at the Big Ten Championships, joining Maia Hall, Vlachou, and Beatrix Tanko.

Individually, Consiglio grabbed a sixth-place finish in the 200 backstroke (2:00.99) in Nebraska's win over Iowa and Rutgers in Piscataway, N.J., to close the regular season. It earned Consiglio the No. 6 spot on Nebraska’s all-time records in the 200 back. After joining the Huskers at the semester break, Consiglio captured an individual victory in the 100 backstroke (54.09) against Illinois, which was the top time by a Husker in the event all season.

At the Big Ten Championships, Consiglio placed 35th in the 200 back (2:01.28) and 36th in the 100 backstroke (54.76).

Before Nebraska
Consiglio joined the Huskers in January of 2025.
