Emily Haimes will enter her first season back with the Huskers as a Graduate Assistant for the 2025-26 season. The former freestyle and butterfly specialist swam for NU for three years (2021-2024).
Haimes etched her way into the Nebraska history books with her performance alongside Caitlin Cairns, JoJo Randby, and Beatrix Tanko in the 200 medley relay during the 2024 Big Ten Championships with a time of 1:39.42. Their performance stands as the third fastest time in school history. In her early experience with NU, Haimes was a lead contributor in the 400-meter freestyle relay. The team of Lexi Kucera, JoJo Randby, and Autumn Haebig currently holds the fifth-best time in the event, achieved during the 2021-22 season with a performance of 3:19.36.
Individually, she excelled in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 butterfly. During her senior season in 2022-23, Haimes took third in the 100 fly (56.73) and fourth in the 50 free (24.30) against Minnesota and South Dakota. In the Hawkeye Invitational, Haimes added a 10th-place standing in the 100 freestyle (51.35) in her final season as a Husker.
Haimes was not only an exceptional swimmer but also a model student and community member. She was awarded accolades in the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten twice. Being awarded as a six-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll, Haimes also gathered the Nebraska Outstanding Scholar Award in 2024. As a community member, she was granted the Sam Foltz 27 Hero Leadership Award in 2024 and was a member of the Tom Osborn Citizenship Team (2023, 2024).
Before coming to Nebraska, Haimes swam for West Virginia, where she notched two First-Team All-Big 12 honors with several notable performances. For the Mountaineers, she captured a third-place finish in the 100 butterfly (54.13) and a sixth-place position in the 100 free (50.18). In her freshman year here, she added a B final performance in the 100 butterfly (55.33) at the 2020 Big 12 meet.
Originally from Enfield, London, England, Haimes swam at Mount Kelly High School, where she propelled herself to a silver medal and a pair of bronze medals at the 2019 British Summer Championships.
In 2024, she earned her degree and master's degree in psychology and history.
