Yuzu Miyoshi joins the Huskers as a sophomore, transferring after competing at No. 1 singles and doubles as a freshman at Sophia University in Japan, and being named the 2022 player of the year. From Kawasaki, Japan, Miyoshi joins the Big Red with three years of eligibility remaining. Prior to college, she competed in the Kanto Junior Tennis Championship and was named Japan Junior Tennis Tour Champions - Champion.
“I’m super excited to add Yuzu to our Husker family,” Head Coach German Dalmagro said. “She’s very talented and eager to get to work. Her best tennis is ahead of her, and we are very fortunate she chose us to help her with her development. She will be a great college player. She’s very motivated and works hard, and she’s an even better person. I know she will make our team better on and off the court. Looking forward to having her here this fall.”
“The coaches and the teammates are a great fit for me, and Nebraska has the best tennis facilities,” Miyoshi said. “I believe Nebraska would be the best environment where I can improve my tennis.”
Miyoshi is the daughter of Ichiro and Tamae Miyoshi, and was born on March 16, 2004. She also has a twin brother, Kenta, who plays on the men’s tennis team at the University of Illinois. Miyoshi plans to pursue Environmental & Sustainability Studies at Nebraska.
