2012-13 (Senior)
Regular Season
Ross Grande saw limited action in his final season with the Huskers at 157 pounds, compiling an 11-6 record. Grande competed in duals against Arizona State and Wisconsin in December but dropped both matches by narrow decisions. He added a second-place finish at the Viking-Warrior Open, third place at the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open and notched a sixth-place result at the Warren Williamson/Daktronics Open.
Grande was named to the academic All-Big Ten team following the season.
2011-12 (Junior)
Regular Season
Grande moved up to 157 pounds as a junior and compiled a 10-9 record. After falling in his first match of the season, Grande finished fourth at the Nebraska-Kearney Holiday Inn Open. He finished the tournament with a 3-2 mark. He also went 3-2 at the UNI Open and the UNK Loper Open, taking fourth in Kearney. At the Midlands Championships, Grande went 1-2. He recorded two pins and two major decision victories.
Grande was a leader for the Huskers in the classroom, earning the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award, while also being named to the academic All-Big Ten team. In addition, he earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for his work during both semesters. Grande earned a 4.0 grade-point average during the 2011 fall semester.
2010-11 (Sophomore)
Big 12 Championships
Grande dropped two hard-fought matches to end his year at the 2011 Big 12 Championships. He opened the tournament with a 2-1 loss to Iowa State's Max Mayfield in the tiebreaker period, before falling to No. 15 Matt Lester of Oklahoma, 1-0.
Regular Season
Grande finished the regular season with an 18-19 overall mark, while going 0-4 in Big 12 Conference duals. He opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the Harold Nichols Open, which catapulted him to a 7-2 record before winning his first dual match of the season with a 7-6 decision over Sean Nemec of Ohio State.
At the Midlands Championships, Grande won two matches over Dan Osterman from Michigan State and Wisconsin La-Crosse's Matt Mauseth. Grande added a tournament title at the Quality Hotel Open. He finished the regular season with one pin, two technical falls and two major decisions.
2009-10 (Freshman)
Grande was 0-3 in his first varsity campaign, as he battled through a shoulder injury that eventually ended his season.
2008-09 (Redshirt)
Regular Season
Grande collected the second-most wins among the Husker redshirts with his 21-13 mark. He narrowly missed placing at several tournaments. He finished with four pins, one technical fall and seven major decisions. Grande opened the season with a 2-2 showing at the Harold Nichols Cyclone Open and went 4-2 at the Kaufman-Brand Open. Grande also posted a 4-2 mark at the Fort Hays State Open.
Grande went 0-2 at the UNK Loper Open, but rebounded with a fifth-place showing at the Dana Open. He went 5-2 during the tournament, including two pins. Grande posted a 3-2 mark at the Brand Open and ended his season with a 3-1 record to place second at the Grandview Open.
Before Nebraska
Grande was a four-time all-conference wrestler under Coach Dan Collins at Class 2A Palatine High School. Grande's 128 career victories broke the school record. He racked up a 43-5 senior season in which he was voted conference wrestler of the year and finished in the top eight in the state. In the classroom, Grande was named to the honor roll for seven semesters.
Personal
The son of Ralph and Maggie Grande, Ross was born on July 3, 1990, in Evanston, Ill. He has two sisters, Angie and Theresa. Ross earned his bachelor's degree from Nebraska in May of 2013 after majoring in nutritional science and dietetics. He earned academic All-Big Ten honors in 2012 and 2013, after claiming first-team academic All-Big 12 accolades in 2011. A Big Ten Distinguished Scholar in 2012 and 2013, Grande earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2011-12 and 2012-13. He was also a six-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection.
