Andrew Broocks joined Nebraska Athletics as an Assistant Director of Football Strength and Conditioning in January 2025. Broocks is responsible for assisting the head football strength coach with the development and administration of strength and conditioning program for the Nebraska Football team.
Prior to the Huskers, Broocks was the Director of Speed & Performance/Sport Science at Temple University from January 2022 until January 2025. He served as the head of football applied sport science and football return to play. Broocks programmed all on-field training sessions as well as programmed for the quarterbacks, advanced and high-need athletes. He was also responsible for assisting with the design and layout of football practice.
Broocks spent time with the United States Army prior to Temple, serving as the Director of Strength and Conditioning (July 2021-January 2022). He oversaw and managed training for 3,000 soldiers, trained Army Rangers and prepared soldiers for ranger school.
He also had a stint at Cornell College, serving as the Assistant Athletic Director of Performance/Director of Strength and Conditioning (January 2020-July 2021). Broocks oversaw the entire sports performance department, handled all aspects of training for 17 sport teams, assisted with practice planning for all sporting programs and designed the departments return to play and assessment protocols.
Broocks spent 2019-2020 as the assistant of football strength and conditioning coach at Iowa State. With the Cyclones, he programmed for developmental and return to play athletes.
He served as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Southern Illinois University Carbondale from 2017-19. Broocks worked as the head strength and conditioning coach for baseball, softball and men’s and women’s golf. He programmed for developmental athletes with the football program, and he assisted with track and field, basketball and volleyball.
Prior to Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Broocks spent time at Nebraska and Iowa State assisting with the day-to-day responsibilities of the football strength and conditioning programs. He also has experience working with Xplosive Edge in Omaha, Neb.
Broocks earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2016 and his master’s degree in kinesiology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2020. He holds multiple certifications including:
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through NSCA
- USA Weightlifting Certified Sport Performance Coach
- Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certified
- Accredited Speedworks Coach
