Andrew Stuart joined the Nebraska Athletic Performance Lab as an assistant director in July of 2022. He assists with overall management and direction of Nebraska Sports Science by working with coaching and support staff members on the integration of sport technologies, training strategies and return to play processes to promote athlete development, health and optimize performance.
Before Nebraska, Stuart served as the manager of applied sports science and performance for the national training programs and Olympic Team for four years with US Speedskating. In his role, Stuart developed and led health and performance screening process while utilizing sports science technologies to establish individual performance plans for all national training program athletes. He helped Team USA and USS accomplish its medal and performance goals at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics with a gold medal, two bronze medals and eight top-10 finishes.
Prior to joining US Speedskating, Stuart was an athletic performance graduate assistant at New Mexico, where he worked directly with the track and field, cross country, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s golf, cheer and dance programs.
In 2014-15, Stuart worked with LSU Shreveport Athletics and the USA Weightlifting Center for High Performance and Development. He served as an adjunct professor within the kinesiology and health science department and was an assistant strength and conditioning coach, working directly with men’s and women’s basketball and baseball. While working at the USA Weightlifting Center, he assisted with USA Weightlifting and USA Paralympic Powerlifting.
Stuart also has working experience as an intern at Memphis, Ole Miss and the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
