Desmond Johnson is in his second season as a developmental performance quality control coach with Nebraska football in 2024. He is responsible for assisting the football strength and conditioning staff with the design and implementation of speed and strength training programs.
Johnson came to the Huskers from McNeese State, where he worked as an assistant sports performance coach. He was the director of speed and performance for the football team, director of sports performance for the track and field team, and the co-director of sports performance for the baseball team for the 2023 season.
In 2022, Johnson was the assistant director of football strength and conditioning at Campbell where he programmed and implemented all on-field training sessions for the football team as well as oversaw the quarterback and freshmen training program.
Johnson spent one year as a strength and conditioning coach intern with Campbell, assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Camel football team in 2021.
Johnson is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA.
Johnson earned his master's degree in health and human performance (exercise physiology) from McNeese State in 2023. Johnson received his bachelor's degree in exercise and sports science from Campbell in 2022. He was also a wide receiver for the Camels (2019-21).
