Erik Spencer is in his second season as an assistant athletic trainer with the Nebraska football team in 2024. A Nebraska graduate, Spencer previously worked with the football program during his time as a Husker student.
Spencer came to Nebraska after more than three years as an assistant athletic trainer for the Wyoming football program. In his role with the Cowboys, Spencer was involved with every aspect of athletic medicine for the football team.
Prior to Wyoming, Spencer was at Akron from 2014 to 2020. He served as a full-time assistant athletic trainer with the football team from 2016 to 2020. He also directed the athletic training efforts for the women's golf team from 2016 to 2018. Spencer began his time with the Zips as a graduate assistant while he pursued his master's degree. Spencer worked with the football program during his duration as a graduate assistant, and he also worked with the women's swimming and diving program in 2015.
Spencer earned his bachelor's degree in athletic training from Nebraska in 2014. He went on to pick up his master's degree in sports science (sports administration concentration) from Akron in 2016.
