Greg Sharpe joined Nebraska Athletics and the Huskers Radio Network as a senior announcer, host and producer in 2008 and served the Huskers until he passed away on February 14, 2025, after his battle with pancreatic cancer. Sharpe was known as the "Voice of the Huskers," and was the play-by-play announcer for Nebraska football and baseball.
Sharpe first served as Nebraska football’s play-by-play voice for the final three games of the 2007 season, then took over in a permanent role beginning with the 2008 season. Sharpe handled the football duties for the next 17 seasons, while also leading the Husker baseball broadcast team since the 2008 season. Sharpe was honored as the 2024 Nebraska Sportscaster of the Year, the second time he has won the prestigious honor.
Before joining the Huskers, Sharpe worked for Kansas State Athletics from 1996-2002 as the voice of Wildcat football and basketball.
Sharpe and his wife, Amy, are the parents of three daughters, Emily, Campbell and Taylor.
