Jared Meister joined the Nebraska Athletic Department as an assistant communications director in August of 2021. He serves as the primary communications contact for the baseball and cross country programs.
Meister joins the Huskers from Omaha, where was hired as an assistant director of communications in July of 2019. He was responsible for all communications with the men’s soccer, women’s soccer, swimming and diving, softball and men’s tennis programs before transitioning to the volleyball, women’s basketball, baseball and men’s tennis programs in 2020. As a member of the communications staff, Meister was the stat crew chief for the NCHC’s 38-game hockey pod over a 20-day span in December 2020 at Baxter Arena and was the media coordinator and official scorer of the 2021 Summit League Baseball Championships held at Tal Anderson Field.
Before joining the Mavericks, Meister served as coordinator of sports information at Minot State, where he oversaw the sports information department and assisted in the game day and social media strategies for Minot State’s 16-sport program.
Prior to Minot State, Meister was an athletic communications assistant at North Florida. In his time at UNF, he worked as the primary media contact for men’s soccer, swimming, beach volleyball, men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s track and field and women’s basketball.
In 2017-18, Meister was the primary contact for volleyball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s basketball, men’s and women’s track and field and baseball as a media relations graduate assistant at Minot State.
Meister served as an athletic communications intern at Omaha in the fall of 2016, working primarily with women’s tennis and cross country teams. As a student at Wayne State College, he worked as a student assistant in the sports information office, scoring the home baseball and softball games. Meister also has experience working Super Bowl LII and the 2015 and 2016 Summit League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships.
A native of West Point, Neb., Meister earned his bachelor’s degree in sport management from Wayne State College in 2016.
