Jeff Griesch was promoted to Senior Associate Communications Director in July of 2016 and has served as the Director of Operations in the Communications Office at Nebraska since August of 2004.
Griesch, who was hired as an assistant sports information director at Nebraska in 1998, works as the primary media contact for the Nebraska women's basketball and men's and women's golf programs and coordinates student assignments for NU's sports.
Griesch hires and supervises the student assistants in the Athletic Communications Office, while also serving as the senior editor for all of NU's media guides and a sports content editor on Huskers.com.
In addition to his supervisory roles, Griesch assists Assistant Athletic Director for Communications Keith Mann with promoting the Nebraska football program, along with other office duties assigned by Mann.
Griesch will enter his 27th season as a radio color commentator for Nebraska women's basketball. He also spent 11 seasons as the host of the Nebraska Women's Basketball Show with Coach Connie Yori.
During Griesch's career as Nebraska's women's basketball contact, the Huskers have made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including the first two NCAA Sweet 16 bids in school history (2010, 2013). He also has helped promote three first-round WNBA Draft picks (Lindsey Moore, Kelsey Griffin, Nicole Kubik) and two first-team WBCA All-Americans (Griffin, Jordan Hooper).
Griesch spent six years as an assistant director and two years as a graduate intern in the Media Relations Office, after starting his sports information career as a student in October of 1995.
In 2007-08, Griesch's Nebraska's women's basketball media and recruiting guide was voted the third-best guide in the nation by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). His women's golf guide also finished third in the national contest, the highest rankings in history for both of those publications.
Griesch's 1997-98 wrestling guide was voted "Best in the Nation" by Amateur Wrestling News and finished second in the College Sports Communicators publications contest. The Nebraska women's soccer guide finished in the top 10 four straight seasons, including a third-place finish in 2000. His 2003-04 women's basketball guide was voted "Best in the District" and 11th in the nation, after finishing 12th and winning "Best in the District" honors in 2001-02.
From 2000 to 2009, Nebraska's media and recruiting publications and posters earned nearly 200 national publication awards from CSC, with Griesch helping to coordinate the printing of those publications.
Griesch earned a bachelor's of journalism degree in news-editorial from Nebraska in 1996. He was the first two-time recipient of the CSC/Wylie Smith Postgraduate Scholarship and was a Regents Scholar as both an undergraduate and graduate student. For three years, he served as a chairman of the prestigious CSC Scholarship Committee, which has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to exceptional candidates in the sports information field since its inception.
Griesch and his wife, Emily, are originally from Wayne, Neb., and have a daughter, Hollan, and three sons, Jackson, Brennan and Isaac. Hollan (senior) and Jackson (sophomore) are both attending the University of Nebraska.
