Dr. Matthew Tao is a sports medicine surgeon and associate professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. After college, he took a detour to be a ski instructor before settling back into academics. He attended Northwestern University for medical school and Duke University for orthopaedic residency. He spent a year specializing in sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York as well as additional training with world-renowned knee experts in Italy. His clinical practice centers around knee preservation - ACLs, meniscal pathology, cartilage restoration and malalignment. His research focuses primarily on ACL injuries. He also has a particular interest in leadership and developing high-functioning teams. Dr. Tao loves working with individuals of all ages, from young kids to elite athletes to aging adults, with the goal of getting back them to being healthy and active. He lives in Omaha, NE with his wife and 4 kids.
