Mike Nieman joined the Nebraska Athletic Department as an academic counselor in 2007. Nieman oversees academic support for the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country teams. He also serves as the primary liaison to the New Student Enrollment office on campus and coordinates University Club events for faculty and staff.
Before returning to the academic staff as a full-time member, Nieman was an assistant academic counselor at Nebraska from 2003 to 2005. In addition, he has held positions in education and career counseling with the Shawnee Mission School District in Kansas, Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska.
A native of Lincoln, Nieman earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2001 and his master’s degree in counseling from Doane College in 2005.
