Mitch Cholewinski is in his second season as Nebraska’s Coordinator of Football Sports Science in 2023. In his role, Cholewinski collaborates with the football Strength and Conditioning, Athletic Medicine and coaching staff to monitor the workload and enhance the performance of football student-athletes.
Cholewinski’s duties include educating student-athletes on proper recovery modalities, serial testing to monitor athletic development and injury risk and identifying areas of needed development to increase athletic performance.
Prior to Nebraska, Cholewinski was an Associate Director of Applied Sports Science at the University of Texas in 2021 and 2022. With the Longhorns he monitored the health and performance of football student-athletes and collected and developed data reporting structures for the football coaches and support staff.
Cholewinski was an Applied Performance assistant at Baylor from 2018 to 2021. At Baylor, Cholewinski assisted with data collection, data reporting and data quality control for several Bear teams.
Cholewinski earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Slippery Rock University in 2016 and a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 2018. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in exercise science and nutrition.
