Nick Humphrey is in his second season on the Nebraska staff in 2026 and his first as co-special teams coordinator. Humphrey served as a special teams analyst with the Huskers in 2025.
Humphrey has coached in both the SEC and Big Ten in his young career, and he also has playing experience in the SEC as a linebacker and special teams standout at Tennessee.
In his first season at Nebraska in 2025, Humphrey helped the Huskers rank in the top 15 in six special teams categories. NU was a top-15 unit in both punt returns and punt return defense and kickoff returns and kickoff return defense.

Humphrey served as a special teams analyst for Nebraska in 2025. The Huskers ranked ninth nationally in blocked punts in 2025, 10th in blocked kicks, 13th in punt return defense, kickoff returns and kickoff return defense and 15th in punt returns. NU allowed only 23 punt return yards to its opponents, the fewest total in 31 years.
Individuals also put up impressive numbers in 2025. Jamir Conn ranked second nationally in blocked kicks, Kenneth Williams was sixth in kickoff return touchdowns and Jacory Barney Jr. was 13th in punt returns and 15th in combined kick returns. Williams and Barney each earned All-Big Ten accolades as a returner.
BEFORE NEBRASKA
TENNESSEE: Humphrey was a special teams graduate assistant at Tennessee in 2024, when the Volunteers played in the College Football Playoff. Tennessee ranked 20th nationally in blocked kicks and 34th in net punting in 2024. Individually, Jordan Ross ranked fourth nationally in punt return touchdowns, Max Gilbert was 17th in field goals per game and Jackson Ross was 25th in punting.
PLAYING CAREER (TENNESSEE)
Humphrey was a linebacker at Tennessee from 2017 to 2022. He played in 22 games with the Vols, totaling nine tackles. Humphrey made his mark as a key special teams member and recorded nine career tackles.
PERSONAL
Humphrey earned his undergraduate degree in supply chain management from Tennessee and his master of business administration in finance.
