Dr. Richard Amendola was born in London, Ontario, Canada but was raised in Iowa City, Iowa through high school. He attended the University of Iowa where he completed his undergraduate degree and master’s degree in biomedical engineering. Following a short stint as a research engineer, he attended the University of Iowa Medical School. He moved on to Orthopedic Residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York. He then completed a Sports Medicine fellowship at The Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute. His practice consists of knee and shoulder sports injuries and shoulder arthroplasty. He enjoys treating a broad range of patients and pathologies from children to the weekend warrior and patients with arthritis. Interests outside of orthopedics include skiing, golfing and cycling and spending time with his wife, Kimberly and their three kids, Rose, Annabelle and Arlo.
