Sarah Dowd joined Nebraska Athletics in January 2026 as an Athletic Counselor. She is responsible for providing mental health and sports performance services to Husker student-athletes as well as consultation and outreach for athletes, coaches and staff.
Prior to the Huskers, Dowd served as an Assistant Athletic Director of Counseling and Sport Psychology at Michigan Technological University from 2024-26. In this role, Dowd was responsible for providing individual mental health support and performance psychology servies to 400+ student-athletes across 14 teams. Dowd also served Michigan Technological University as the Director of Student-Athlete Wellness and Clinical Counselor from 2019-24.
Dowd received her bachelor's degree in psychology and her master's degree (MSEd) in clinical mental health counseling from Youngstown State University, and her doctrate (EdD) in sport and performance psychology from the University of Western States.
Dowd is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) through the Association of Applied Sport Psychology.
Dowd was a student-athlete, playing softball at Youngstown State and earning Academic All-American honors in 2016.
