Thomas Bowling is in his first season as Nebraska's assistant director of football operations in 2024. Bowling is responsible for managing operational activities for the football department, team travel logistics and vendor contracts. He also assists with the football recruiting team, and plans and coordinates events hosted by football including coaches' clinics, summer camps and annual season events.
Prior to the Nebraska Bowling worked as the Director of Football Operations at Eastern Kentucky from February 2022 to May 2024. He was responsible for coordinating all aspects of team travel logistics, managing the program budget, maintaining the team calendar and served as a point of contact for mass communication with players and staff. Bowling assisted with recruiting operations, fundraising, summer camps and helped develop the summer meal plan program. He also spent two years at EKU as the Football Operations Assistant.
Bowling earned his bachelor's of business administration and management from Eastern Kentucky in May of 2021 and his master's of business administration in December of 2022. He was a member of the Eastern Kentucky football team, playing in 31 games from 2017-20 as the long snapper. Bowling earned the Ohio Valley Conference Medal of Honor in 2018, which is given annually to the student-athletes that achieve the highest grade point average in a conference-sponsored sport. He was a two-time selection to the Ohio Valley Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll and was a preseason All-OVC selection by Phil Steele as a senior.
Thomas is a native of Bardstown, Ky., where he attended Bardstown High School and was the Valedictorian of his graduating class.
