Redshirt Freshman (2024-25)
A relative newcomer to the game of golf, Mackenzie Bream joined her older sister, Brooke, in taking up the sport during the COVID-19 pandemic in the spring of 2020.
Mackenzie continued to grow her game as a redshirt in her first season at Nebraska in 2023-24, but is looking to compete for playing time as a redshirt freshman in a revamped Husker lineup in 2024-25.
In 2022, Bream was the Junior Golf Association of Arizona Girls 15-18 Player of the Year after winning individual titles at the Milt Coggins Jr./Junior World Qualifier, the Maricopa Junior Championship, the Tucson City Junior and the Bruce Brown Yuma City Junior, along with runner-up finishes at the Phoenix City Junior and Thunderbird Junior.
Redshirt (2023-24)
Bream redshirted in her first season at Nebraska in 2023-24. She performed well off the course, earning a spot on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall of 2023, before becoming a member of the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Before Nebraska
As a senior at Arcadia High School in the fall of 2022, Bream tied for 14th individually at the Arizona Division 2 girls state championship at Tucson National. She helped Arcadia to a 10th-place team finish. In the fall of 2021, Bream tied for 52nd individually at the Arizona Girls Division 2 Championship. She also competed in volleyball, soccer and track and field for the Titans during her high school career at Arcadia.

Personal
The daughter of Scott and Shelly Bream, Mackenzie was born Dec. 5, 2004. She is majoring in finance and earned spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll in the fall and spring semesters of 2023-24. She was also a member of the 2024 Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
Bream is also a three-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team. Mackenzie and her older sister, Brooke, are the women’s golf team’s representatives on the Nebraska Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2024-25. Brooke earned her bachelor’s degree from Nebraska in August of 2024 and is a redshirt junior for the Huskers this season.

Mackenzie’s father is the vice president for player personnel for the Detroit Tigers. A three-sport athlete at Millard South High School, Scott Bream advanced to the Triple A level after playing in the San Diego Padres (1989-1995), Chicago Cubs (1995) and Detroit Tiger organizations (1996-98) after being drafted in the second round by San Diego in the 1989 MLB Draft. He continued in the Tigers organization as an advance scout in 1999, and has spent all but two (2011-12, Padres) of the last 24 seasons in the Tigers organization.
