Senior (2024-25)
The most experienced golfer on Nebraska’s 2024-25 roster, Miu Takahashi will look to lead the Huskers back to NCAA Regional play this season. The senior from Nasu-machi, Japan, produced Nebraska’s second-best stroke average (73.91) as a junior in 2023-24 while competing in 32 rounds.
Takahashi opened her fourth collegiate season as Nebraska's No. 3 individual finisher at the Badger Invitational (Sept. 8-10). She closed with a three-round score of 231 (+15) to tie for 39th in a 75-golfer field.
She added another No. 3 finish for the Huskers by tying for 64th with a 232 (+16) at the Red Raider Invitational (Sept. 24-25) on the longest course a Nebraska women's golf team has ever played with a 6,894-yard, par-72 layout at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. Takahashi managed rounds of 77, 76 and 79.
Takahashi was Nebraska's No. 4 finisher at the Jim West Challenge (Oct. 20-21). She closed the tournament with a season-best 71 (-1), including a hole-in-one on the par-3, 165-yard fourth hole at the Kissing Tree Golf Course in San Marcos. She ended the tournament in a tie for 61st at 234 (+18).
She closed the fall with a season-best 227 (+11) to tie for 41st in a 63-golfer field at the Hurricane Invitational (Oct. 28-29).
In 110.5 career rounds as a Husker, Takahashi ranks third in Nebraska history with a 75.06 stroke average. She produced a 77.00 stroke average over 12 rounds during the 2024 fall campaign.
Junior (2023-24)
Takahashi produced her best effort of the season with a career-best 211 (-5) to tie for 29th at the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 25-26) in Peoria, Ariz. She posted three consecutive rounds better than par (71-69-71) including a season-best-tying 69 in the second round on the par-72, 6,248-yard layout of the Westbrook Village Golf Club.
She followed with consistent showings of 221 (74-74-73) to tie for 29th at the Briar’s Creek Invitational (March 11-12) in Johns Island, S.C., before tying for 28th with a 220 (71-73-76) at the Florida State Match Up in Tallahassee (March 15-16). She tied for 29th with teammates Michaela Vavrova and Arden Louchheim with three-round scores of 228 (+12) at the Therese Hession Buckeye Invitational (April 13-14). It was Takahashi’s fifth top-30 finish of the season.
She closed her junior season by tying for 49th with a 227 (+11) at the Big Ten Championship. Nebraska’s No. 3 individual finisher, Takahashi produced rounds of 76, 73 and 78 at the Bulle Rock Golf Course in Havre de Grace, Md.
Takahashi, who was the only Husker to compete in all 32 rounds during the season, finished with a 73.91 stroke average, which ranked second among the Huskers on the year.
She tied for 41st at 151, including a 69 (-3) in the second round of the rain-shortened Spartan Sun Coast Invitational in Sarasota, Fla. (Feb. 18-19). Takahashi opened her third season as a Husker by tying for 54th with a 220 (+4) at the Sam Golden Invitational (Sept. 11-12). She carded scores of 74-72-74 on the par-72, 6,413-yard layout at the Oakmont Country Club in Corinth, Texas to help Nebraska to a tie for fifth in a 12-team field that included seven 2023 NCAA Regional-qualifying teams.
She was Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher in a tie for 29th at the Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 17-18). Takahashi’s 54-hole score of 224 included Nebraska’s only individual round better than par (71) in the second round on the par-72, 6,370-yard layout at Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing. Her 71 came in between rounds of 77 and 76. She helped the Huskers to a tie for sixth in a 15-team field that included nine 2023 NCAA Regional-qualifying teams.
Takahashi fired another 224 to tie for 44th at the Dale McNamara Invitational (Oct. 9-10). Her score included a season-best 69 (-3) in the second round on the par-72, 6,246-yard layout at the Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow. She helped the Huskers to a fifth-place finish in a 14-team field that featured 10 top-100 teams.
She closed the fall as Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher at the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C. (Oct. 27-29). Takahashi tied for 54th with a 220 (+4) in an NCAA-caliber 96-player field on the 6,194-yard layout at the Country Club of Landfall.
Takahashi posted a 74.00 stroke average through 12 fall rounds, before opening the spring with a 219 (+3) at the UCF Challenge (Feb. 3-5). She was Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher in a tie for 45th in a strong 96-player field with rounds of 73, 74 and 72 at the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando.
Sophomore (2022-23)
Takahashi was one of Nebraska’s top golfers as a sophomore in 2022-23, helping the Huskers to an NCAA Raleigh Regional appearance.
Takahashi set the Nebraska sophomore stroke average record (73.49) and capped her second season in Lincoln with a tie for 42nd at the NCAA Raleigh Regional with a 226 (+10), including an opening-round 74 and a final-round 73 on the par-72, 6,324-yard layout at the Lonnie Poole Golf Club.
Takahashi captured her first career collegiate individual title by posting a then-career-best 213 (-3) in a 75-player field at the Dale McNamara Invitational (Oct. 10-11). She closed with a career-best final-round 69 (-3), taking the title after entering the final round in a tie for sixth at even-par 144 (71-73) on the 6,302-yard layout of the Cedar Ridge Country Club in Broken Arrow, Okla. She helped the Huskers to a runner-up team finish, just one stroke back of the champions from Tulsa. Her performance earned Takahashi the first Big Ten Golfer-of-the-Week award of her career.
Takahashi, who ended the year at No. 247 in the Golfweek individual rankings, opened the season as Nebraska’s No. 3 golfer in the lineup at the Green Wave Classic. She closed the tournament in a tie for 35th with a then-career-best 218 (+2). She helped the Huskers to the best team score in school history with an 835 (-29) to finish second in the 14-team field.
The following week, Takahashi added the second top-10 finish of her career, tying for eighth individually in a 75-golfer field to help the Huskers to the team title at the Badger Invitational (Sept. 18-20). Takahashi put together a then-career-best 215 (-1) with rounds of 73, 70 and 72 on the 6,248-yard layout of the University Ridge Golf Course in Wisconsin.
She opened the spring with a top-10 finish, firing a three-round score of 214 (69-70-75) to tie for 10th at the FAU Paradise Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla. (Feb. 6-7). Takahashi helped the Huskers to a runner-up team finish, trailing only No. 19 Vanderbilt in a 14-team field that featured 11 top-100 teams.
Takahashi was even better the next time out, notching her fourth top-10 finish of the season with a career-best 212 (71-71-70) to tie for eighth individually and help the Big Red to a team tournament championship at the Westbrook Spring Invitational in Peoria, Ariz. (Feb. 27-28). Takahashi’s three rounds better than par helped the Huskers finish with a 54-hole total of 843 (-21) to outclass a 14-team field that featured 12 top-100 teams, including No. 24 Ohio State.
She added another top-20 finish by tying for 18th in a 90-player field at the Briar’s Creek Invitational in South Carolina (March 13-14). Takahashi closed the 54 holes on the par-72, 6,152-yard layout at The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek with a 218 (72-71-75).
She added a top-25 finish at the Hurricane Invitational in Coral Gables, Fla. (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) with a three-round total of 217 (+1) to tie for 24th in a talented field. Her performance included a career-best first-round total of 69 (-3). She tied for 47th in challenging weather and scoring conditions at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational (Oct. 17-18). The tournament in Lawrence, Kan., was eventually shortened to 27 holes.
She managed a 219 (78-72-69) over three rounds in a loaded field at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz. (March 17-19). Her final-round 69 matched her best third-round score as a collegian.
Her 73.49 stroke average over 37.5 rounds in 2022-23 ranked No. 5 all-time in Husker history. She did not record a final individual finish at the 2023 Big Ten Championship appearance because illness forced her to withdraw midway through the first round. She bounced back with a one-over-par 72 in the second round at the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh before closing the tournament with an 81 in the final round.
She also tied for 54th at 229 (73-81-75) in a loaded field at the Lady Buckeye Invitational (April 15-16) and tied for 36th in a strong 84-player field at The Bruzzy in Ardmore, Okla. (April 1-2). She finished with a three-round total of 223 (72-75-76) on the par-70, 5,976-yard layout at the Dornick Hills Golf & Country Club.
She played at par or better in 16 rounds in 2022-23, including 11 rounds under par.
In the summer of 2023, Takahashi qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles (Aug. 7-13). Takahashi earned a spot at the 123rd U.S. Women’s Amateur by tying for third with a 72 (+1) in the qualifier at the Shady Valley Country Club in Dallas. She joined Husker teammate Kelli Ann Strand in the U.S. Women’s Amateur field.
Freshman (2021-22)
Takahashi closed her first fall season in the Nebraska women’s golf program by producing her third top-25 individual finish in five events. She tied for 25th with a solid three-round total of 224 (+6) to help the Huskers to a runner-up team finish at the White Sands Intercollegiate in the Bahamas (Oct. 22-24). Her effort on the 6,415-yard layout of the Ocean Club at Paradise Island included an even-par 72 in the first round before back-to-back rounds of 76 to close the tournament.
Takahashi’s performance to close the fall followed a lineup appearance at the Dale McNamara Invitational (Oct. 11-12). She helped the Big Red to another runner-up team finish in a 13-team field by firing an opening-round 71 (-1) on the 6,200-yard layout at The Golf Club of Oklahoma in Broken Arrow. She finished with a three-round score of 232 to tie for 53rd.
Takahashi opened her college career by earning a lineup spot for the Huskers at the season-opening Wolverine Invitational (Sept. 13-14). She was NU’s No. 5 finisher at the 16-team event that included 12 teams that advanced to 2021 NCAA Regionals. Takahashi finished with a 54-hole score of 238 that included a 78 (+7) in the final round on the par-71, 6,232-yard layout at the University of Michigan Golf Course in Ann Arbor. She tied for 77th individually in the 90-golfer field.
She did not earn a spot in Nebraska’s top lineup the following week at the Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational, but she did produce a breakout performance. Takahashi was instrumental in leading the Big Red’s four-player “B” squad to the team championship. She tied for fifth individually with a 54-hole score of 222 (75-68-79) that included a career-best 68 (-4) in the second round. Takahashi was seven-under through 14 holes in the second round before settling for three bogeys on the final four holes. Her 68 tied for the best score by any golfer in the tournament, joining Kansas State’s Remington Isaac as the only golfers to shoot a round better than 70 on the par-72, 6,221-yard layout at Colbert Hills Golf Club in Manhattan, Kan.
Takahashi, individual co-champions Nicole Hansen and Lindsey Thiele, and fellow freshman Andrea Velez (T19th) captured the team crown with a six-stroke win over Sam Houston. It marked Nebraska’s first Marilynn Smith/Sunflower Invitational team title in 11 all-time trips to the tournament.
She returned to Nebraska’s lineup at The Molly Collegiate (Sept. 27-28), closing as Nebraska’s No. 2 finisher with a three-round total of 226 (75-76-76) in a tie for 18th in an 83-player field on the par-72 layout of the Bayonet Golf Club in Seaside, Calif.
Takahashi closed the fall with Nebraska’s No. 5 stroke average (76.13).
She opened the spring by going 1-0-1 at the Big Ten Match Play (Jan. 31-Feb. 1) before completing two rounds (83-79) while playing as an individual outside Nebraska’s lineup at the Tulane Classic (Feb. 13-15). Takahashi followed with the best tournament score of her college career with a 219 (+3) to help the Huskers to a runner-up team finish in a loaded field at the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 27-28). She tied teammate Michaela Vavrova for 30th in Arizona, after carding three straight solid rounds (72-73-74).
Takahashi competed in the Nebraska lineup again at the Briar’s Creek Invitational in John’s Island, S.C. (March 14-15). She was NU’s No. 5 finisher in a tie for 77th at 234 (76-83-75). She added another lineup appearance in the six-count-four format at the Lady Buckeye Spring Invitational (April 15-16). Takahashi finished 57th with a 251 (84-83-84) in rugged scoring conditions against a talented field on the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio. She closed her freshman campaign by tying for 80th in the six-count-four format of the 2022 Big Ten Championship. Takahashi finished with a three-round total of 241 (79-81-81) on the par-71 layout of the Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh.
Overall, Takahashi ended the season with a 77.55 stroke average over 29 rounds in 2021-22.
Before Nebraska
Takahashi tied for second at the Niigata prefecture golf tournament and finished fifth at the Yonex Junior Golf Championship. She did not compete in tournaments during the summer of 2020 in Japan because of restrictions sparked by the world-wide outbreak of the coronavirus. Takahashi attended Kaishi Kokusai High School. She was coached by Hiroyuki Fujita.
Personal
The daughter of Yasunori and Junko Takahashi, Miu was born Oct. 31, 2002. A sports media and communication major, Takahashi claimed Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2023 and 2024. She has earned five spots on the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll. She is also a two-time member of the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team.
“I chose Nebraska because the coaches are very kind and I felt like I’d like to play golf for them,” Takahashi said. “I was impressed by the golf practice facilities and golf program. Many people suggested Nebraska is a safe place.”
