Senior (1994-95)
Nebraska's team captain as a fifth-year senior, Melissa Odell helped lead the Huskers to a second straight NCAA West Regional appearance in 1995. The native of Fredonia, Kan., closed the season with an 81.04 stroke average over 24 rounds. She managed three top-25 finishes as a senior, including an 11th-place finish to lead the Huskers at the Diet Coke/Roadrunner Invitational, where she fired a career-best 73 in the second round.
Odell earned a spot in the NU lineup in every tournament during the fall, but made just one start during the spring campaign at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational, where she finished in a tie for 31st (241). She closed her career with an 83.04 stroke average over 89 rounds.
She capped an outstanding academic career as a two-time NGCA Scholastic All-American and a two-time academic All-Big Eight honoree.
Junior (1993-94)
In her first full season in Nebraska's lineup, Odell helped the Huskers earn a bid to the NCAA West Regional by posting an 80.32 stroke average on the season. She played in 34 rounds for the Huskers, firing a career-best 74 while adding a career-best three-round tournament score of 229. Her 34 rounds were a Nebraska record for the most rounds played by a junior at the time.
At the NCAA West Regional, Odell carded Nebraska's best score with a 231, including rounds of 77-82-77. She helped the Huskers to a 16th-place team finish at the 19-team regional after assisting NU's fourth-place Big Eight Tournament finish.
Off the course, Odell earned the first NGCA Scholastic All-America award of her career and her first academic All-Big Eight recognition.
Sophomore (1992-93)
Odell returned to a part-time position in the Nebraska lineup after taking a redshirt season in 1991-92. As a third-year sophomore, Odell competed in 17 rounds and posted an 86.0 stroke average. She posted a season-best round of 79, while producing a season-best three-round tournament score to 246.
Redshirt (1991-92)
In her second year at Nebraska, Odell took a redshirt season after competing as a true freshman for the Huskers in 1990-91.
Freshman (1990-91)
Odell saw immediate course time for the Huskers as a true freshman, competing in 14 rounds while compiling an 89.5 stroke average. She managed a season-best round of 79 and a season-best tournament score of 258.
High School/Amateur
One of the top players in the state of Kansas as a high school competitor, Odell captured the 1994 Lincoln City championship heading into her senior season at Nebraska.
Personal
The daughter of Wayne and Carol Odell, Melissa was born Oct. 9, 1971. An elementary and secondary education major at Nebraska, Odell was a two-time NGCA Scholastic All-American and a two-time academic All-Big Eight selection during her Husker career.
