Shamus McKnight joined the Nebraska Athletic Department in 1997 and currently serves as a Senior Associate Communications Director. He works directly with the Nebraska men’s basketball and football programs and assists with a number of other sports at Nebraska.
At Nebraska, McKnight has been responsible for media guides across six sports that have earned “Best in the Nation” awards from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). In his time at Nebraska, McKnight has earned more than 30 national publication awards from CoSIDA, including 18 publications that have placed in the top five nationally.
He served as host communications director for a pair of NCAA Division I Volleyball Championships and has been on the NCAA Men’s College World Series Media Coordination team since 2006, serving as the official scorer of the CWS since 2013. He also served on Nebraska’s on-site communications team for two football national championship games, three College World Series, four NCAA Baseball Super Regionals as well as NCAA or conference events in baseball, women’s gymnastics volleyball and men’s and women’s tennis. McKnight is a 1996 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace University.
He and his wife, Melissa, reside in Omaha with his two stepchildren, Alison and Morgan.
